Water Sports

South Lake Country is part of the pristine Clermont Chain-of-Lakes, so it’s no wonder of some of the best water sports are enjoyed here. This chain of 15 connected lakes originates in the Green Swamp and flows north to the St. John’s River. The lakes offer residents the opportunity for excellent fishing, boating, swimming, water skiing, wakeboarding, and the pleasure of viewing magnificent sunrises and sunsets from atop one of the many hills surrounding the lakes.

If you are into beaches of white sand, then you will want to check out Clermont Waterfront Park and the 4,300 acre Lake Louisa State Park. Located on the southernmost lake in the Clermont Chain. Lake Louisa State Park features swimming, canoeing, fishing, horse trail, picnicking, and opportunities to study nature.

Palatlakaha Recreation Area is a showcase 25-acre facility with specialty recreation. You’ll find manicured baseball, softball, football and soccer fields; basketball, tennis, racquetball and volleyball courts; a covered picnic pavilion, canoe launch and fitness trails. Park Pals is located in the same area and is a favorite among kids. It’s a great pace to jump, climb and build sand castles. Visitors can also stroll the adjacent boardwalk that extends over Lake Palatlakaha to the fishing pier, and if you’re lucky, you can catch a glimmer of a gator!
