South Lake Art League Treasure Box Paint Party benefits Shriner's Hospital
On Saturday, January 14, a group of artists met at the Cagan Crossings Studio of the South Lake Art League to paint Treasure Boxes to bring a smile to the face of a sick child. Some of these “artists” had never painted before, but wanted to contribute to this special project. Instructor, Kathie Camara, provided the painting lesson. Once painted, the boxes were sealed by members of the Art League and a label was attached to the inside of the cover with the Treasure Box Artists name. Then the boxes were transported to one of the many Shriners Hospitals to be given to a child who is in the hospital due to chronic illness or surgery. The Shriners put small toys and trinkets inside the box for the children, and the kids will have a special treasure box to keep their belongings in, thanks to the generosity of a group of Treasure Box Artists who donate their time and talent to bring joy to a child. You, too, can participate in this worthwhile program. For more information and pictures and the date of the next Paint Party, check the Treasure Box page at www.SouthLakeArtLeague.com.
