Art is alive and well in Clermont and all of South Lake County.
Our area's beautiful scenery and relaxing atmosphere draw many artists to South Lake. Several art galleries, as well as the South Lake Art League, are located in historic downtown Clermont. Crafts and arts festivals are held throughout the year.
South Lake's own theater group - the Moonlight Players now perform in its own facility. The group has been delighting theater audiences since 1994. More than 200 actors have performed for the company since its inception.
For those who are interested in the arts, South Lake offers a variety of opportunities for growth. Classes can be found in art, music and poetry, as well as in martial arts, gymnastics and dance.
There's an abundance of local musical talent. Area musicians are featured in local restaurants and clubs and can often be found at Clermont's downtown First Friday celebrations. The Lakeridge Winery is also known throughout the area for hosting musical festivals up at the vineyard.
Several community events and festivals are held each year. Signature events include Groveland's Fourth of July celebration, Cinco de Mayo in Mascotte, Light up Clermont Christmas Festival, Pig on the Pond Barbecue and Festival, and the annual Christmas Parade.
South Lake residents and visitors also have convenient access to the art communities of Orlando and Mount Dora. World class theater, symphonies, concerts, ballet, museums and the Science Center are all just a short distance away. So whether you decided to take in a big show, or you prefer a quiet antique outing, you're only a few minutes away from either destination.
